Chickpeas, also called the meat of poor, are fruits of herbaceous plants of the Fabecee family. Besides containing many proteins and carbohydrates, they are also very rich in fiber, which help to regularize intestine. They also contain Omega 3 fatty acids, great allies of cardivascular system, as well as mineral salts and vitamins B and C.
Chickpeas are recommended for those following a vegan or vegetarian diet, or for those suffering from celiac disease.
Ideal for salads, soups and side dishes.
Cover chickpeas with plenty of cold water and leave to soak for about 24 hours, throw in soaking water and cook for about 90 minutes in a pan with three volumes of water for each volume of chickpeas.
